Togetherness knows no borders – this was once again demonstrated during the joint festival “WIND OF CHANGE”, held in Rokiškis on 9–10 July, 2026. For two days, the festival brought together seniors from Lithuania and Latvia – from Rokiškis, Šiauliai and Ludza. During these days, the Rokiškis Juozas Keliuotis Public Library became a place filled with songs, smiles, creativity, meaningful conversations, and the sincere joy of being together.
In just two days, people from different cities, cultures, and life experiences were united by a strong sense of togetherness. By singing, dancing, creating, travelling, and sharing their stories, they once again proved that genuine human connection knows no boundaries of age, language, or nationality. The two days passed remarkably quickly, but the emotions experienced during the festival will remain with each participant for a long time.
On the first day of the festival, the library was filled with songs and dances performed by senior groups. Meanwhile, Paulius Širvys’ courtyard was alive with creative activity, with workshops in Ebru painting on water, angel-making, and dried-flower arrangements. Festival participants also visited the newly established sensory space at the library, created as part of the project. They learned about the opportunities it provides and saw how such spaces contribute to people’s well-being, social inclusion, and meaningful leisure activities.
The day concluded with an energetic group dance led by Joana Bartaškienė and the joint creative activity “Baltic Sun”, which became a symbol of unity and friendship.
One of the most touching and memorable moments of the first day was the sincere conversation between the event host, Violeta Mičiulienė, the President of the Lithuanian Women’s Sports Association, Joana Bartaškienė, and the festival participants. Their inspiring thoughts about the joy of life, staying active, inner strength, and the ability to discover new meaning at every stage of life touched many hearts. They reminded everyone of a simple yet very important truth: a fulfilling life is shaped not by the number of years we have lived, but by curiosity, openness to others, the desire to keep moving forward, and the ability to enjoy each day. For many participants, this became one of the most meaningful experiences of the entire festival.
The second day of the festival invited participants to discover the Rokiškis region. At Ilzenberg Manor, they learned about the history of the estate, took part in a traditional šakotis-baking workshop, and had the opportunity to try making this distinctive part of Lithuania’s culinary heritage themselves. The festival concluded with a trip on an electric catamaran across Lake Ilgis. It was a beautiful ending to the festival and another reminder that shared experiences, discovery, and sincere communication create memories that last.
When the festival ended, much more remained than beautiful photographs. There were smiles, newly formed friendships, shared experiences, and the feeling that true togetherness knows neither language nor national borders. Such moments remind us that the greatest value of every project lies in the people and the connections they create. This is precisely why they inspire us to look forward to meeting again.
