Within the framework of the project SnowPower, Daugavpils City Municipality has taken an important step towards improving winter sports infrastructure and ensuring high-quality conditions for winter tourism development.
As part of the project activities, a multifunctional compact tractor for snow track maintenance together with related attachments has been purchased. The new equipment is intended for the regular maintenance and preparation of snow tracks, ensuring their quality, safety, and accessibility for winter sports enthusiasts.
In addition, the previously developed artificial snow track infrastructure provides the technical capacity to operate a snow blower when necessary. This allows snow to be produced and maintained depending on weather conditions, ensuring that the track remains ready for use throughout the winter season. Thanks to this infrastructure, the ski track is actively prepared and used by skiers, contributing to increased participation in winter sports and outdoor activities.
These improvements significantly enhance the sustainability and attractiveness of winter tourism in Daugavpils, support year-round use of sports infrastructure, and strengthen cross-border cooperation within the Latvia–Lithuania Programme.
SnowPower project aims to promote sustainable winter tourism development by improving infrastructure, sharing best practices, and increasing the attractiveness of border regions for residents and visitors alike.
