Since time immemorial, people have sought ways to preserve the fragrance of plants they brought home and to make their beneficial properties available for everyday use. Once again, bees come to the rescue! After all, beeswax is one of the oldest natural materials, historically used in beauty treatments, medicinal ointments, and the production of scented products. We often overlook the fact that producing just one gram of beeswax requires as many as 1,000 tiny wax scales secreted by young bees!
Daunorai Apiary shared both historical and practical knowledge and transformed itself into a small handmade perfume workshop. Guided only by their sense of smell, each participant in the educational activity created a unique personal fragrance and preserved it in a handmade Greek-style container.
The most enjoyable part was smelling one another’s creations and exchanging recipes over a cup of fragrant tea. It certainly sparked the desire to come back and create new perfumes again!
