ACE Volunteer Training: Empowering Peer Support for Active Ageing
On August 26–27, 2026, the Latvian Red Cross, in collaboration with Northern Lithuania College, is hosting the ACE (Active, Connected, Engaged) Volunteer Training in Rezekne under the project “Positive Ageing Hub” (P-AgeHub, LL-00225).
This two-day interactive training brings together 24 participants—including senior volunteers (55+), hub coordinators, and program developers from Latvia and Lithuania. The aim of the training is to equip participants with essential peer-support competencies to provide emotional support, facilitate access to community resources, promote healthy aging, and strengthen social connections within ACE Positive Ageing Hubs.
Through practical sessions, participants explore the shift from traditional “helping” to active peer participation. Key topics include overcoming barriers to senior engagement, active listening techniques, understanding needs, establishing professional boundaries, and handling complex situations. Additionally, participants learn how to measure impact, maintain volunteer motivation, and design their own ACE mini-projects to foster long-term community connection.
