Educational Seminar “Alleys – Heritage for the Future”
Kurzeme Planning Region is organizing educational seminars “Alleys – Heritage for the Future” in May and June, which will take place in three different locations and dates, so that everyone interested can choose the closest place and time:
- May 28, Kalnmuiža Castle, Kandava parish, Tukums County
- June 2, Pope Culture House, Pope parish, Ventspils County
- June 10, “Garīkas”, Rudbārži parish, Kuldīga County
Seminar times: from 9:40 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Seminars are organized with the aim to improve understanding of tree alleys as a significant natural, landscape and cultural-historical value, combining knowledge with practical skills.
Seminars will cover themes as follows:
- ecological and landscape significance of alleys,
- natural values and the regulatory framework for their protection,
- green space management and digitalisation,
- challenges posed by climate change,
- evaluation and management of alley trees.
The practical lesson in nature – in the alley – will improve participants’ understanding of the application of knowledge in real situations, promoting professional and knowledge based decision-making in the management of tree alleys.
Seminar target groups: environmental specialists and landscape architects, specialists who work with nature protection, tree and alley management and maintenance, specialists who make decisions on tree cutting permits outside forest lands, as well as every alley owner and manager, and other interested persons.
