Green Secrets project final event in Kurtuvėnai

On the 10th of September 2026 final event “Green Secrets: Discovering, Sharing, Connecting” of LL-00126 project “Exploit Your Senses to Discover the Green Secrets of Zemgale and Žemaitija!” will take place in Kurtuvėnai Regional Park Visitors’ Centre in Lithuania.

The event will mark the conclusion of a joint initiative bringing together partners from Lithuania and Latvia to promote the natural and cultural heritage of the Zemgale and Žemaitija regions and to encourage visitors to discover these destinations through engaging and sensory experiences.

The final event will provide an opportunity to present the main results achieved during the project and to reflect on the experience of cooperation across the border. Representatives of the Directorate of Žemaitija Protected Areas, Jelgava Local Municipality, Bauska Municipality Government, Joniškis Tourism and Business Information Centre and Nature Heritage Fund will share the project’s results and experiences.

An important part of the event will be dedicated to experiencing the destination itself. Following a traditional Lithuanian lunch at the Kurtuvėnai tavern “Kryžkelė”, participants will be invited to choose one of several Green Experiences in and around the Kurtuvėnai Manor Estate. The programme offers a choice between a 4.7-kilometre nature hike, a guided tour of the manor estate, an escape room experience at the Kurtuvėnai Manor Barn, aromatic herb incense making and dried plant bouquet making.

These activities will demonstrate how natural and cultural heritage can be presented in creative and interactive ways, encouraging visitors not only to see and learn, but also to experience their surroundings through different senses.

The event will conclude with a symbolic activity – planting the Green Secrets Tree in Kurtuvėnai Manor Park. The tree will serve as a lasting reminder of the project, the partners’ cooperation and the shared commitment to discovering, sharing and connecting the green heritage of Zemgale and Žemaitija.
