Joint Lithuanian-Latvian Cultural Programme to be Presented in Tytuvėnai

On 13 September at 2:00 p.m., Tytuvėnai, Lithuania, will host the second concert featuring the joint Lithuanian-Latvian cultural programme developed within the LAT-LIT project. The event will take place in Tytuvėnai Town Square.

The event will offer an opportunity to discover the richness and diversity of traditional culture through music, dance and interactive cultural experiences. The programme will introduce traditional crafts, folk games and the traditional costume of the Žemaitija (Samogitia) region, giving the audience an insight into the cultural heritage and traditions of western Lithuania.

The concert will also welcome guests from the Latvian cross-border region – a traditional music ensemble and a folk dance group. Their performances will complement the Lithuanian programme and create a shared cultural space where Lithuanian and Latvian traditions meet.

An important part of the event will be the involvement of young people and the wider community. Through music, dance, traditional games and hands-on cultural activities, participants will be encouraged not only to observe, but also to experience and engage with folk and traditional culture.

The event is open to everyone interested in traditional Lithuanian culture, crafts and music, as well as to those who would simply like to learn more about these cultural traditions. Admission is free, and no advance registration is required.

The concert is part of the activities of the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania project “Revitalizing people-to-people interaction through youth engagement in traditional Lithuanian and Latvian culture activities”. The project aims to make folk and traditional culture more attractive and accessible to young people while strengthening cross-border cooperation and cultural exchange between communities in Lithuania and Latvia.

The event will serve as another platform for sharing the cultural richness of the Žemaitija and Latvian regions and demonstrating how traditions can bring people together across borders. It will also provide an inviting opportunity for the local community and visitors to experience traditional culture in an engaging and informal atmosphere.
