Learn about biodiversity protection and wetland preservation within the framework of the UrbUmbrella project
The UrbUmbrella project promotes the protection and preservation of biodiversity affected by climate change and human activity, using nature-based solutions for wetland preservation in the cities of the cross-border regions of Daugavpils (Latvia) and Zarasai (Lithuania).
On March 5, 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00, at the online cross-learning workshop, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the project activities taking place within the framework of nature restoration works in the area adjacent to the river Daugava in the Ruģeļi neighbourhood, where urban wetlands are being restored using nature-based solutions, which is an innovative method that will promote long-term preservation and protection of biodiversity, as well as about the activities taking place on Didžioji Island in the city of Zarasai, where the wetland ecosystem is being restored.
The online event will feature not only experts from the UrbUmbrella project, but also representatives from Latgale Zoo, the Latvian Nature Conservation Agency and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
