Online seminar “On the Way to More Resilient and Climate-Adaptive Urban Green Spaces in Latvia and Lithuania”

Researchers from the Institute of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Engineering at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU), together with colleagues from Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija Higher Education Institution (LIK), invite interested participants to attend the online seminar “On the Way to More Resilient and Climate-Adaptive Urban Green Spaces in Latvia and Lithuania” on 14 May 2026 at 15:00 (EEST) via Zoom.

The seminar will cover topics such as the impact of climate change on urban green spaces, different approaches and planning tools, and practical examples of creating resilient and climate-adaptive urban greenery. It will also address the integration of climate-adaptive green space planning and management into policy and planning documents at various levels, as well as public engagement processes. The seminar is intended for municipal and sectoral professionals, as well as students and specialists working in the fields of urban environment, green infrastructure planning, green space design, and management.

Following the online seminar, workshops will be organised in Kaunas and Jelgava on 20–21 May and 8–9 June. Participants will have the opportunity to apply and strengthen in practice the theoretical knowledge gained during the online seminar. More detailed event programmes will follow.

The seminar “On the Way to More Resilient and Climate-Adaptive Urban Green Spaces in Latvia and Lithuania” and the workshops in Kaunas and Jelgava are part of the activities of the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme project “Enhancing Urban Resilience with Climate Adaptive Green Space Planning in Latvia and Lithuania” (UrbanGreenAdapt, LL-00273). The project aims to develop and pilot a training programme for municipal and sectoral professionals in the Latvia–Lithuania cross-border region, enhancing their knowledge of resilient and climate-adaptive greenery planning and management, as well as its integration into planning and policy documents of different levels and sectors.
