Media tour participants wade through a river in the Ignalina and Molėtai districts, exploring water tourism experiences. The event, scheduled for July 1, 2026, gathers journalists, influencers, and tourism professionals to highlight the Waterways project.

WaterWays Project Media Tour in Lithuania

Responsible partner:

This summer, a Media Tour in Lithuania will take place, bringing together journalists, influencers and travel organizers to explore water tourism experiences in the beautiful regions of Ignalina and Molėtai districts. The tour will focus on water tourism experiences, the WaterWays project, and destinations located around rivers and lakes, highlighting authentic nature-based activities, local heritage, and sustainable tourism initiatives.

During the tour, participants will experience some of Lithuania’s most scenic water tourism destinations and learn more about the WaterWays project, its goals, activities, and results.

What to expect?
The day will begin with a journey into the wild nature of the Kančiogina River together with “River Hiking LT”. This is not a traditional hike – participants will travel directly through the river, surrounded by wildlife, natural river obstacles, and untouched landscapes.

After the river experience, we will gather by the campfire for a presentation of the WaterWays project.

Later, the group will travel to Dubingiai, where participants will enjoy two authentic experiences: sailing on Lake Asveja with the historic Laumaris boat and discovering the heritage of Dubingiai Castle and the Radziwiłł family legacy. Participants will rotate between the activities so everyone can experience both programs.

The day will also include a meeting with the Molėtai Tourism Information Centre to discuss water tourism trends in the region, current challenges, and visitor flows, followed by a tasting of traditional Radziwiłł family stew.
