The educational activities and their organizers encouraged participants to adopt more sustainable habits. Two separate workshops were held — one for adults and one for children. By impregnating fabrics with beeswax, participants created reusable food wraps that can last up to two years, suitable for sandwiches, pastries, bread, fruits, vegetables, and other snacks. From early morning, the Kuršėnai Creative House was filled with the scent of natural beeswax.
Experts from the Human Resources Monitoring and Development Bureau (VšĮ Žmogiškųjų išteklių stebėsenos ir plėtros biuras) talked about bees, their way of life, and the gifts they provide — first to the adult group and later to the children.
The creative workshop–seminar was organized as part of the 2021–2027 Interreg VI A Latvia–Lithuania Cross border Cooperation Programme, Priority 4 “Economic Tourism and Heritage Potential,” within the project “Enhancing Tourism Through the Development of the Bee Route from Kuršėnai to Ventspils” (Project code: LL 00198, acronym: Busy Bee / Užimta bitė).
