In April 2026, three new digital interactive outdoor displays were installed in Bauska Municipality, which will significantly improve access to tourism information for residents and visitors.
The displays have been installed for the Bauska Municipality Tourism Information Center (TIC), according to project manager Ilze Munda. This is part of the Interreg V-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2021–2027 project “Capacity Building for Public Sector Professionals to Improve the Quality of Services Provided in Local and Regional Municipalities in the Šiauliai and Bauska Regions” (Akr. Quality Under Control).
The information displays provide up-to-date information on tourism news, events, and attractions in the Bauska region. Plans are also in place to introduce the option of making WhatsApp video calls with the region’s TIC specialists at specific times, ensuring even more convenient and modern communication.
Inese Turkupole-Zilpure, director of the Bauska Municipality Tourist Information Center, emphasizes:
“We are proud that, as part of this project, tourism information will also be available digitally 24/7 in the Bauska region, providing a modern service at three strategic locations even outside of regular business hours. Since tourists still highly value recommendations from experts, the planned WhatsApp video call feature will be an excellent addition, allowing visitors to receive advice from a tourism professional and personalized support even if a staff member is not physically present at one of the mentioned locations at that particular moment.”
The digital displays have been set up:
- at the Vecumnieki Tourist Information Centre at 34 Rīgas Street in Vecumnieki;
- at the Iecava Cultural Center at 18 Rīgas Street in Iecava;
- at the “Rundāles Avotu” building in Pilsrundāle.
In recent days, the first visitors have already viewed the new digital displays and explored the interactive features to gain a broader insight into tourism information for the Bauska region.
