The Jēkabpils History Museum’s Open-Air Department, “Sēļu sēta,” is proud to announce the acquisition of a unique collection of historically accurate, high-quality archaeological and ethnographic folk costumes and traditional jewelry representative of the Selonia region.
This initiative is a significant contribution to the preservation, research, and promotion of Selonia unique cultural identity. The new collection serves as an interactive educational resource, offering visitors a rare opportunity to observe and understand the nuances between archaeological and ethnographic costumes. As part of our commitment to enhancing the accessibility of Selonia cultural and historical heritage, the museum has successfully integrated high-quality reconstructions of jewelry typical of the ancient Selonia lands during the Iron Age. The collection features a variety of authentic pieces, including brooches, neck rings, cowrie shell necklaces, bracelets, and crowns.
