On 4th and 5th of June Tukuma county social service organised a seminar on volunteering for social service professionals at the Tukums Specialized Workshops “Melnezers”.
The aim of the seminar was to deepen the understanding and value of volunteering, explore opportunities for volunteer involvement in social services, and discuss practical solutions for promoting the development of volunteering.
During the two-day event, participants expanded their theoretical knowledge, learned about examples of good practice, and listened to experience-sharing presentations from colleagues in Latvia and Lithuania on organizing and coordinating volunteer work.
A particularly valuable contribution was the presentation by Luanna Stetsenko, representative of the NGO Metų Rievės, a partner in the project “Connecting Generations in Diversity” (LL-00241), who introduced the volunteer system in Palanga. She shared experiences on how school students are engaged in volunteering and presented motivational support mechanisms for young people. For example, students who complete a certain number of volunteer hours receive additional advantages when applying to higher education institutions.
The seminar was organized within the framework of the project No. LL-00241 “Connecting Generations in Diversity.” The project is co-funded by the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027.
