Today, a new, modern mobile library – BIBLIOBUS arrived in Pasvalys, which will soon begin its travels and visits around Pasvalys Municipality territory and to project partner libraries in Jelgava Local and Aukšdaugava Municipalities. The mobile library will complement the services of Pasvalys Marius Katiliskis Public Library and make them accessible to an even wider community. The new BIBLIOBUS will begin operating on March 1st. In the meantime, preparatory work will be carried out: the space will be prepared for a mobile computer laboratory, sensory equipment will be installed, and all necessary services for the smooth start of operations will be set up.
A mobile library is more than just books. It is designed to reach those who often have less access to cultural, educational, and information services—older people, people with disabilities, children, and other socially excluded members of the community. The BIBLIOBUS will not only allow people to read and borrow publications, but also to surf the internet, participate in educational activities, try out sensory tools or other modern innovations that strengthen emotional well-being and engagement, and learn something interesting or useful related to job search or using digital tools.
