Today three years long development process of the Interreg VI-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2021- 2027 has resulted with its submission to the European Commission.
Today an important milestone of development of Latvia-Lithuania cross-border cooperation programme 2021–2027 has been achieved – the Latvian government expressed support to submission of the Programme to the European Commission. A similar approval by the Lithuanian government has already been received on 8 December 2021. Consequently, the Managing Authority will submit the Programme to the EC for review in early March.
2022 is the European Year of Youth – a year dedicated to honour and support young generations.
The European Commission is fully committed to encourage young people to become active citizens and actors of positive change. To do so, the Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) initiative will continue for the next three years.
The Joint Secretariat office in Rīga will be closed on
24 and 31 December. Branch office in Vilnius will be closed on 24 December.

REGIONS INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAMME
Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 was approved by the European Commission on 30 November, 2015. The Programme’s objective is to contribute to the sustainable and cohesive socio-economic development of the Programme regions by helping to make them more competitive and attractive for living, working and visiting.
The programme has 4 thematic objectives:
Employment and labour mobility
Sustainable and clean enviroment
Social inclusion
Efficient public services
