AIZKRAUKLE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
Within the project Reclaimed History, project partner Aizkraukle Local Municipality developed an augmented reality (AR) in Koknese castle ruins and neighborhood.
An augmented reality solution has been developed that allows tourists to revisit and re-experience lost cultural, natural, and historical objects. By scanning a QR code, users can access digital content on their smartphones that blends with the real environment – images, text, animations, sounds, and 3D objects. This solution brings the past to life on-site, enabling visitors to see how specific locations once looked and compare them directly with their present-day appearance.

Location of the 5 (five) objects in Koknese park and medieval castle ruins territory:
- Memorial Stone “Pērses Girl” (56.642606, 25.413390);
- Boat Pier “Gundegas” (56.63893, 25.42639);
- Koknese Manor New Castle Ruins (56.642799, 25.422566);
- Koknese Medieval Castle Ruins (56.6382, 25.4184);
- Koknese Evangelical Lutheran Church (56.641332, 25.433219).
Within the project Reclaimed History, project partner Aizkraukle Local Municipality developed 360-degree tours of the various cultural, historical and nature objects in the county area.
For 30 sites across the territory of Aizkraukle municipality, 360-degree virtual tours have been developed and published on the VisitAizkraukle website. Tourists can preview each location online or access information on-site by scanning the installed QR codes, which link directly to the corresponding page on VisitAizkraukle. This provides visitors with convenient access to detailed tourism information both before and during their visit.

STASYS EIDRIGEVIČIUS ART CENTER
Within the project Reclaimed History, project partner Stasys Eidrigevičius art center created an interactive-storytelling route „Čerkesas manor – before and after/an unknown story”: Juozas Čerkesas-Besparnis Homestead Route (Address – Ukmergės st. 59A, Panevėžys Municipality).
The homestead features twelve augmented reality (AR) interactive stations forming an outdoor digital route, recreating the historic environment of poet Juozas Čerkesas-Besparnis. Each station uses AR technology to virtually reconstruct long-lost buildings, revive historic landscapes, and present short scenes depicting daily life on the homestead and its surroundings a hundred years ago.
Using a smartphone or tablet, visitors can activate AR content, meet the people who lived here, learn their stories, and explore the cultural context of the era. All content is available in three languages – Lithuanian, Latvian, and English – and is also adapted for Lithuanian Sign Language. The stations are designed to integrate naturally into the surroundings, ensuring user-friendly interaction and clear orientation for visitors.
In addition to the AR route, the homestead features an interactive digital collage designed for visitors of all ages, yet particularly appealing to the modern younger audience. This playful and innovative solution presents the same historical characters in a dynamic, stylized form, offering a contemporary and visually engaging way to explore cultural heritage. Together, the AR route and the collage provide a comprehensive digital interpretation that enriches understanding of the homestead’s history and delivers an accessible, immersive, and multifaceted experience for all visitors.

Within the project Reclaimed History, project partner Stasys Eidrigevičius art center created documentary film “Juozas Čerkesas-Besparnis Homestead Route”, Address – Ukmergės st. 59A, Panevėžys Municipality.
To further expand these storytelling possibilities, an artistic documentary film was created about J. Čerkesas-Besparnis and Skaistakalnis Park as an alternative to the outdoor QR code stops. The film presents historical events of that period, as well as the people, places, and buildings connected to the story. Serving as a continuation of the historical narrative, it reflects the 12 stops of the route while enriching them with a vivid storyline and additional details.
The documentary can be viewed at the Creativity Centre “Pragiedruliai” in case of unfavorable weather conditions. Moreover, it allows a much larger group of visitors to experience the story at the same time compared to guided tours. The film was produced in the original language (Lithuanian) with subtitles in Latvian and English.
The duration of the documentary film is 24 min 16 sec. The film is the property of the Creativity Centre “Pragiedruliai” and will be stored in the institution’s cloud. It will be available for viewing at the centre via smart multimedia equipment, as well as on the “Pragiedruliai” YouTube channel:

AKMENE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY
Within the project Reclaimed History, project partner Akmene District Municipality purchased and installed 7 interactive metal stands with QR codes.
To attract bigger tourist flow and cross-border travel in Akmene surroundings, a modern, digital presentation of objects which no longer exist, have been destroyed or have lost their original appearance, was performed through a smart outdoor info terminal and interactive metal stands. The stands were installed for seven cultural heritage objects – Papile Hillfort, Papile, Akmene and Klykoliai Synagogues, Kruopiai former Manor Homestead, Dabikine and Paragiai manor
1.Visualization Stand of Akmenė Synagogue, Address – Stoties St., Akmenė, Akmenė District Municipality
In the center of Akmenė, in a public square, an informational and visual stand has been installed marking the former location of the old Akmenė Synagogue. The stand is made of a transparent, weather-resistant material, onto which a historical visualization of the synagogue is printed. The structure is designed so that when a visitor stands in front of the stand, they see a drawn projection of the synagogue in the real environment, precisely in the location where the building stood before its destruction. In this way, the spatial composition and scale of the synagogue are recreated, allowing visitors to imagine its former architecture within the city context.
The stand features an integrated QR code that activates an audio guide when scanned. The audio guide is available in three languages – Lithuanian (LT), Latvian (LV), and English (EN). It presents the history of the Jewish community in Akmenė, the architectural characteristics of the synagogue, and its cultural and religious significance to the city. It also tells about the life of the community and the historical context in which this house of worship operated.
This digital solution allows visitors to experience a spatial reconstruction by looking through the transparent panel at the real city view, while the audio guide complements the visual impression with detailed historical information. This form of presenting information provides visitors with a clear, accessible, and modern way to engage with lost cultural heritage and understand the synagogue’s significance in the history of Akmenė.

2.Visualization Stand of the Dabikinė Manor Utility Building: Address – Liepų St. 1, Dabikinė, Akmenė District Municipality.
In the territory of Dabikinė Manor, an informational and visual stand has been installed, marking the former location of the manor’s utility building. The stand is made of a transparent, weather-resistant material, onto which a historical visualization of the building has been printed, reconstructed based on old blueprints and iconographic sources. The structure is designed so that when a visitor stands in front of the stand, they see a drawn projection of the utility building in the real environment—precisely where the building once stood and functioned during the manor’s active period.
