International Conference “Active Aging Policy and Innovative Methods”

The “Active Aging Policy and Innovative Methods” International Conference will take place on January 14, 2026, at Abgunste Manor in Latvia.

The primary objective of the conference is to present the results and key insights of the “Active Aging” project, share successful best practices from Latvia and Lithuania, and initiate crucial discussions on integrating active aging principles into the agendas of policymakers.

The target audience includes a broad range of professionals and stakeholders, such as social work specialists, caregivers, project staff, and representatives from the Latvian and Lithuanian Ministries of Welfare and Health.

Key Agenda Highlights:

• Project Results (10:40 – 11:00): Overview of implemented activities and achievements by the Lead Partner, Zemgale Planning Region.

• Best Practice Showcase (11:00 – 12:00, 13:00 – 14:30): Presentations by partner municipalities:

  • Lithuania (Rokiškis & Panevėžys): Focus on the University of the Third Age experience, successful senior engagement, and innovative approaches like outdoor exercise machines with adjustable weights for seniors.

  • Latvia (Jelgava & Bauska): Sharing local success stories, masterclasses on nutrition, and creative activities.

  • Senior Testimony: A short presentation from a project target group representatives.

• Policy and Discussion Panel (14:30 – 16:00): Policy overviews from both the Latvian and Lithuanian Ministries, followed by a panel discussion on “Active Aging Policy – Challenges and Solutions.” Key discussion points include integrating active aging principles into national policies and the importance of cross-border cooperation.

• Conclusion (16:00 – 17:00): Summary of key conference takeaways and a call for future collaboration.
