First period – good soil for future activities

As we approach the end of the first period of the Project “Reclaimed history”, we can look back at the work done and the activities started already for the next period.

The main aim of the project “Reclaimed History” is to enhance the role of the lost and not seen any more cultural and historical heritage in Zemgale and Northern Lithuania through developing interactive, digitally and socially available tourism products and joint route increasing the number of visitors and overnight stays in Programme area.

In March, all project partners met at kick-off meeting and study visit in Bauska (LV), to share good practice about potential and existing digital solutions within partners territories, and to get more info about developed tourism products, digital tourism offers, development and inclusion of historical objects. As a part of the visit, the project partners went on a two-day exploratory tour of Bauska County to get to know part of the rich cultural heritage. Bauska Castle, Mežotne Church, Svitene Manor and Rundāle Castle were examined, thereby obtaining more information about the development of those historical objects for which a digital tourism offer has already been developed. The participants both strengthened mutual ties to achieve common goals and gained inspiration to create effective solutions for successful project development and implementation of digital solutions.

Partners from Akmene (LT) organized a workshop about digital solutions for collection entrance fees for outdoor or other tourism objects with the target group of entrepreneurs, tourism specialists and objects. This kind of workshop will be held in September in Latvia too, organized by Zemgale Planning Region.

All partners met in the online working group meeting for a joint tourism route and now the work process of collecting and evaluating tourism objects has been started. Partners presented their possible tourism objects, including descriptions, photos and discussed their planned promotional events.

A great amount of work has been implemented to work with the publicity of the project. Each partner has created and distributed press releases and social media posts with information about the project and implemented activities. ZPR has created the QR code for the main project website so all partners can use it as a tool for more efficient communication with society. As well as a 2x2m roll-up banner has been designed and printed and a digital stand is now ready to start its journey to introduce the project. Both items will be used in promotional events presenting newly created digital solutions in each project partner territory.

Project “Reclaimed history”/ LL-00061 has 8 partners – Zemgale Planning Region, Administration of Rokiskis District Municipality, Aizkraukle Local Municipality, Bauska Municipality Government, Jekabpils County Municipality, Jelgava Local Municipality, Stasys Eidrigevičius art center, Akmenė District Municipality Administration.
