Health promotion in the cross-border region starts from experience sharing events

During the first period of project implementation, ActiHealth project partners met to share experiences and improve health promotion skills. Since Lithuania and Latvia have different activity models for health promotion, healthy lifestyle and disease prevention, the partners presented their experiences, advantages of the models and aspects to be improved, and at the same time discussed the possibilities of adapting the models in their countries.
Two experience exchange meetings took place during the project – one in Latvia and one in Lithuania. In Daugavpils, representatives of the Public Health Office of Akmenė District Municipality presented how health prevention activities are carried out in this municipality and how useful the organizational model of public health offices is in Lithuania. In turn, representatives of Daugavpils Municipality during the event in Lithuania shared their experience with health prevention, sports and youth participation programs financed by the municipality. Each meeting was attended not only by representatives of the project partners, but also by public health specialists working in schools, municipalities and medical institutions.
In addition, during the international meetings, the project partners had the opportunity to visit the treatment, sports or health prevention institutions of another country.
Considering that new methods and working principles of health prevention are planned to be developed during the project, the experience exchange meetings will be useful for the development of new ideas.
