Work has begun to improve the accessibility of Lake Vilgāle in Kurmāle parish. A strip of reeds will be mown, old root systems will be removed and a section of the shoreline will be restored with sand added.
A new wooden boardwalk – 2 meters wide and 49 meters long – will replace the existing worn-out and unsafe boardwalk. At the end of the boardwalk will be a 4 x 6 meter platform with a resting bench and a staircase for swimmers.
The boardwalk will be built on pontoons and anchored with screw bolts. A changing cabin will be installed on the shore.
The work is expected to be completed within four months.
