Start of the contest “THE HIDING PLACES OF NATURE FRIENDS” with a famous naturalist Marius Čepulis

Biržai district municipality is organizing an idea contest “The hiding places of nature friends”. The aim of the competition is to acquaint the children and young people of Biržai with the biodiversity of lake Širvėna and the territory of Biržai Castle, rare species, the importance of their preservation and increase; to stimulate interest in the environment around us, the uniqueness and uniqueness of the nature of our country; to develop creativity, organization in children, to stimulate children’s activities together with the family.

OCTOBER 9, meeting with journalist, ornithologist, photographer, writer, naturalist Marius Čepulis is organized. This event will announce the start of the idea contest “THE HIDING PLACES OF NATURE FRIENDS”. Meeting will take place in Biržai Castle Arsenal Hall, start at 7:30 p.m. (local time). Other milestones of the contest:

OCTOBER 9 – NOVEMBER 4 Submission of ideas for the competition “Hiding places of friends of nature” in 4 categories.

1. “The Great Insect Escape”– a competition for a created / equipped hut for insects;
2. “Cosy Slit For Rest” – ideas of a hiding place for amphibians, created using computer programs and / or using artificial intelligence;
3. “Buzzing Habitat Havens” a competition for the idea of an insect hotel;
4. “Bird House Vision” – a contest for the idea of a nest or nesting place.

NOVEMBER 5 – NOVEMBER 18 Open voting online for the ideas of the competition and public exposition of ideas (Vytauto str. 38, Biržai) on website www.birzai.lt

NOVEMBER 29 Awards of the winners of the competition

The contest organized in the implementation of the 2021-2027 Interreg VI-A Latvia-Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme project No LL-00045 “Protection of biodiversity and green infrastructure by developing sustainable management of areas used for recreation in Biržai and Aizkrauklė”.
