The project “Digital Tourism in Crafts” (acronym D-Tour, No. LL-00100) has entered a new and exciting phase as project partners begin developing digital exhibitions. Each partner is taking a unique approach to the creation process, which means they are currently at different stages: some have already developed a concept, others are in the process of acquiring technical equipment, while some are focused on organizing documentation.
For instance, the Daugavpils City Municipality Institution “Vienības nams” is ready to move forward with the exhibition implementation. A design competition organized by the municipality was won by the concept titled “VASALS!”, created by SIA SOLAVI. According to the winning proposal, the exhibition—centered around traditional crafts and daily life—will be an interactive installation that will occupy the entire designated space in the House of Traditions.
The exhibition will feature several thematic zones that not only provide insight into a traditional Latgalian farmstead, but also offer a broader perspective on the region’s rich culture and traditions. Unlike conventional exhibitions, this one will stand out with immersive visual elements and dynamic content distributed throughout the space, allowing multiple visitors to explore the exhibition simultaneously.
By the end of 2025, visitors to Latgale (Latvia) and Aukštaitija (Lithuania) will have the opportunity to discover various aspects of traditional crafts through digital exhibitions, including:
- Latgalian farmstead at the Daugavpils House of Traditions
- Wooden architecture and woodcarving at the Krāslava Castle complex
- Ceramics at the Anīkščiai Art Incubator – Art Gallery
- Flax weaving and traditional folk musical instruments in the Upīte village, Panevėžys district
This project aims to promote the digitalization of cultural heritage and open new avenues for the promotion of crafts, both locally and internationally.
