On June 19, 2025, a partner meeting of the project “Enhancing Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups through Integrated and Creative Methodologies” took place in Šiauliai. The event brought together specialists from Šiauliai City Municipal Care Home and the State Social Care Centre “Latgale” (Latvia).
During the meeting, the partners discussed the information gathered from focus groups, which revealed various occupational methods used by professionals when organizing activities for different target client groups – seniors, people with disabilities, and individuals experiencing social exclusion. Participants shared their experiences, challenges, and effective practices applied in their daily work in both Lithuania and Latvia.
Based on the collected data, joint methodological guidelines were developed during the meeting. These guidelines define the most commonly used creative occupational methods and the principles of their application. Recommendations were also formulated regarding the structure, format, and content of the future methodology. The partners agreed that the methodology should be clear, practical, and easily applicable in various social care contexts.
Particular attention was given to creative occupational methods such as color music, visual arts, ceramics, aromatherapy, candle making, and working with plaster. Specialists proposed how each method should be described in detail, including its goals, benefits, application possibilities, and necessary materials, ensuring it can be easily integrated into everyday practice.
This meeting marked the transition from the analysis phase to the practical development of the methodology. The partners agreed on the next steps, including testing the methodology in practice and preparing the final version. The project provides a strong foundation for professionals in both countries to strengthen their competencies by applying creative methods that promote social inclusion and empowerment.
