An exciting new digital ceramics exhibition is currently in development and is set to open to visitors in autumn 2025 at the Anykščiai Art Incubator – Art Gallery.
The exhibition is being created by Rimas Sakalauskas – a renowned video and theatre artist, known for his innovative 3D and video installations. For this project, Sakalauskas is developing custom digital solutions in collaboration with local ceramic masters and their unique creations.
The exhibition aims to showcase the complexity and aesthetic richness of the ceramic craft in a modern, immersive format. By blending tradition with cutting-edge technology, it will offer an engaging and multisensory experience tailored to contemporary audiences.
Innovative tools such as photogrammetry, volumetric video scanning, holographic projections, 3D video graphics, and visual effects will be used to bring ceramics to life in new and dynamic ways. To deepen visitor engagement, the exhibition will also feature immersive audio design — a specially curated soundscape combining natural and earth-inspired sounds.
The central theme of the exhibition is a journey through the world of ceramics, from shaping raw clay to the creation of a finished piece. Each showcased object will serve as a narrative element, weaving together the cultural and artistic heritage of the Anykščiai region and its artisans.
By the end of 2025, visitors to Latgale (Latvia) and Aukštaitija (Lithuania) will have the opportunity to discover various aspects of traditional crafts through digital exhibitions, including:
- Latgalian farmstead at the Daugavpils House of Traditions
- Wooden architecture and woodcarving at the Krāslava Castle complex
- Ceramics at the Anīkščiai Art Incubator – Art Gallery
- Flax weaving and traditional folk musical instruments in the Upīte village, Panevėžys district
This project aims to promote the digitalization of cultural heritage and open new avenues for the promotion of crafts, both locally and internationally.
