Healthy lifestyle youth camp: a week that changes attitudes towards health

, ,

As part of the project “Active involvement of communities to improve healthy lifestyle habits” (No. LL-00167), funded by the Interreg VI-A Latvia-Lithuania  2021-2027 program, in July  youth camps were held in Akmenė district (Lithuania), attended by two groups of active and curious young people.

The camp program focused on healthy lifestyles, prevention and teamwork training. Campers participated in theoretical and practical activities on trauma, injuries, and first aid, gaining valuable knowledge on how to act in case of an accident and help others. There was also a series of lectures on the prevention of psychoactive substance use, promoting a conscious and responsible attitude towards health. Much attention was paid to active leisure activities, including film screenings and discussions that encouraged debate and self-reflection, team games, board game evenings, quizzes on healthy lifestyle topics, yoga classes, and creative workshops where participants could express themselves. One of the highlights of the camp was a healthy dinner by the campfire, which created a cozy and community-oriented atmosphere. An excursion to a disc golf park was also organized, giving participants the opportunity to try out a new and exciting active pastime, combining physical activity and strategic thinking.

The camp not only enriched the participants’ knowledge, but also strengthened their physical and emotional health, promoted community spirit and friendly interaction. It was a week full of impressions, new acquaintances, and growth.
