Halotherapy services have been launched in Palanga “Pušynas” Rehabilitation Branch

The project “Innovative psychosocial and physical rehabilitation methods for vulnerable people stress overcome towards better social inclusion” (No. LL-00120) aims to create integrated psychosocial and physical rehabilitation measures to address high-stress challenges.

The project results are already visible and being tested. In Palanga, “Pušynas” Rehabilitation Branch of the PI Republican Hospital of Klaipėda installed a salt room and began providing halotherapy services. Halotherapy is a natural form of therapy in which a person breathes in micro-particles of dry salt-enriched air. This therapy has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially among the elderly, due to its potential health benefits. The Halotherapy room creates a calm, relaxing environment that helps elderly patients reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue. With reduced stress, their sleep quality improves. Halotherapy also strengthens the immune system, reduces the risk of respiratory infections, and more.

To help people with mobility impairments or temporary mobility issues safely and comfortably reach Palanga “Pušynas” Rehabilitation Branch a wheelchair lift for car was purchased. Now, patients are safely transferred to and from the vehicle, which reduces the risk of injury for both the disabled person and accompanying persons. The new lift features remote control and a non-slip surface. This is very convenient for the person escorting and transporting the patient, saving time and effort, as it eliminates the need for physical lifting or carrying of the patient.

Implementing universal design principles in healthcare institutions is an important goal to adapt the environment for all people, regardless of their physical abilities.
