Cross-Border Project SNOWPOWER Activities

Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027 project “Sustainable cross border cooperation for winter tourism development” SnowPower, No. LL-00123, implemented by Daugavpils City Government together with Visaginas Municipality (Lithuania), provides a series of activities to strengthen the capacity of tourism professionals.

One of them was the training “Green and digital skills in tourism supporting winter tourism season”, which took place on 24 July in Daugavpils (Latvia) and Visaginas (Lithuania) for 33 tourism professionals and municipal staff working in the field of urban development.

The one-day event covered various issues related to digitisation and sustainability in tourism – artificial intelligence to optimise work processes, city visibility online, sustainable solutions to challenges, etc.

One week after the training, all participants had the opportunity to participate in an online conversation with tourism management expert Holger Sigmund, who moderated the workshop. More information about the expert here – https://holgersigmund.com/en

It was a great opportunity to ask additional questions, take part in a discussion on the practical application of knowledge at work, as well as to listen to the expert’s advice on promoting tourism accessibility in the cross-border region of Daugavpils and Visaginas.

The project will continue cooperation with the Visaginas municipality in the field of tourism by organising study visits and cross-border tourism marketing activities.

The total project budget is EUR 740 414.43. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund with EUR 592 331.54.
