The main goal of the “Reclaimed history” project is to “revive” the lost cultural heritage with various digital solutions. Partners from Zemgale and Northern Lithuania are involved in the project, which will implement various modern digital solutions in 20 tourist facilities, including Koknese Castle Ruins and Park, Gārsene Castle, Čerkesas-Besparņi and Rokiškiu Manor and its surroundings, and other facilities in Bauskas, Akmenes and Jelgava counties, which will allow tourists to get to know the once lost history of these places.
Active preparatory work is underway before implementing the plans and providing digital solutions to tourists. On September 25 and 26, the project partners met in Panevėžys, Lithuania, where they discussed the project’s progress and got to know the tourist facilities of this city and its surroundings, where various digital solutions have already been implemented.
As well as, on September 13, a seminar was held in Jelgava about digital solutions for entrance fees in places of tourism, culture and natural heritage, where participants were given the opportunity to get acquainted and find out whether there should be an entrance fee in places of natural and cultural heritage, discussed the purpose of the entrance fee, determining the price and place management financing, what digital solutions are available for collecting entrance fees at tourist attractions, different practices of collecting entrance fees: examples from Latvia and abroad, as well as getting to know stories of experience from entrepreneurs. Such digital solutions for entrance fees, donations and other activities will remain increasingly relevant and participants acknowledged that valuable insights and suggestions for future work have been gained.
In the near future, the project foresees online theoretical and also face-to-face practical training in Bauska and Jēkabpils for improving digital skills and popularizing tourist facilities and services, as well as active work on the creation of a joint tourist route with the opportunity to get acquainted with lost cultural heritage objects that offer a unique digital experience.
