Aizkraukle Municipality invites you to open the tourism season in Selonia on May 25 in the magical surroundings of Vīgante Park!

With a vibrant and diverse program, the Selonia Tourism Season Opening Event will take place in Staburags Parish, Vīgante Park. This celebration is one of the key public activities of the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027 project No. LL-00132 “Tourism Offer Development in Selonia Region” (Weekend in Village).

At the Community center 

13:00–14:00 – Conference “Traditional Heritage of Selonia”

• Project presentation: Sintija Sniedzīte
• Introduction to the study “Selonia. The Beginning is Today” by Daina Alužāne
• Research and performance on traditional Sēlian singing by Iveta Tāle and members of the traditional music group “Krāce” (Jēkabpils Municipality)

🎨 Throughout the day: Exhibition by students of Aizkraukle Art School (2nd floor of the Community center)

At the Open-Air Stage 

14:00–17:00 – Selonia Tourism Season Opening Concert – Hosted by Linda Onužāne and Herberts Legants

• Market of local craftsmen, plant growers, gardeners, and home producers
• Cafés and tourism information stands
• Free guided tours in Vīgante Park with certified guide Iveta Ločmele
  • Tours start at 14:30, 15:30, and 16:30 (Meeting point: main gate)
• Family activities, including children’s attractions
• Traditional Sēlian cuisine tasting at the heritage table
• Pony and horse rides

At the Boat Dock

• Free boat rides with the “Vīgante” on the Daugava River
  • Departure times: 14:00, 14:30, 15:00, 15:30, 16:00, and 16:30
