In the middle of November, together with colleagues from Klaipėda Administration of the Fire and Rescue Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, we went on an experience exchange visit to Hamburg.
As part of the visit was attendance of different authorities that work in the field of flood response. We visited the Ministry of the Interior and Sports, German Federal Agency for Technical Relief, as well as the Dike Defense Training Center and Hamburg Port Authority. We got acquainted of the work organization principles of the Hamburg fire and rescue service, as well as had a look on their fire station technical equipment.
The program of the visit was very broad and full of new impressions. It was a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation and gain knowledge that will help to respond more efficiently to the challenges caused by floods in Latvia and Lithuania.
