Cross-border cooperation project “application of Smart buoys in real-time water quality status Observations of Urban Lakes (LAKES GO DIGITAL)” has been launched in the territory of Latvia and Lithuania this year. The main objective of the project is to ensure sustainable management of urban lakes by implementing monitoring approaches based on innovative technologies.
As part of the project, autonomous smart buoys are expected to be deployed in urban bodies of water, which will provide real-time data on changes in water quality, as well as timely identification of potential pollution risks. The established monitoring system will facilitate public access to up-to-date information while strengthening local authorities’ institutional capacity in the field of environmental management.
