Improving water tourism in Zemgale and learning from the Polish experience

Zemgale Planning Region jointly with project partners actively implements the first activities within the project “WaterTour” which aims to promote water tourism in the cross-border region of Lithuania and Latvia. The first seminar for local entrepreneurs and tourism sector specialists was organized in Aizkraukle on August 28 to promote cooperation between target groups for establishing joint water tourism products and routes and improving cross-sectoral cooperation.

Promoting sustainable water tourism in the Lithuanian-Latvian cross-border region, involving local entrepreneurs and tourism service providers, representatives from the Zemgale region had a 4-day experience exchange trip to Poland to gain experience from successful water tourism service providers in North Poland as well as to gather information and experience exchange on the water tourism route development, promotion, and stakeholders’ involvement.
