Inspiring STEAM training empowers librarians within the project Wind of Change

, ,

Within the project Wind of Change, Šiauliai City Library successfully organised an inspiring two-day STEAM training for librarians on 8–9 December 2025, bringing together professionals from Ludza Municipality and Rokiškis District. The event became a valuable platform for learning, collaboration, and the exchange of innovative ideas across borders.

The training focused on the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and its growing role in modern libraries. Participants explored creative and practical ways to integrate STEAM activities into everyday library work, with a strong emphasis on inclusion and accessibility, particularly when working with people with disabilities.

The librarians gained new tools, methods, and inspiration to transform libraries into dynamic learning spaces. The programme encouraged creative thinking and demonstrated how STEAM can help libraries reach wider audiences, foster lifelong learning, and support equal access to knowledge.

The training also strengthened professional cooperation between Latvian and Lithuanian librarians. By sharing experiences and best practices, participants developed new ideas that they plan to implement in their own libraries, ensuring that the benefits of the training extend well beyond the event itself.

The Wind of Change project continues to build momentum. In January 2026, Ludza Library will host a similar STEAM training, which will be delivered by a Latvian company. This upcoming activity will further support librarians in developing innovative, inclusive, and community-oriented services, reinforcing libraries as important centres of learning and creativity.
