More than 50 participants from Latvia and the Šiauliai region 🐝 took part in a two-day international event dedicated to beekeeping and tourism development.
On August 20th, the Šiauliai District Municipality Vytautas Vitkauskas Public Library in Kuršėnai hosted the opening of the international forum “Busy Bee”. The event was organized as part of the project “Enhancing Tourism through the Development of the Bee Route from Kuršėnai to Ventspils – Busy Bee”, implemented by the Šiauliai District Municipality Administration. The project aims to promote cross-border tourism by creating a thematic bee route connecting Lithuania and Latvia. The initiative is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, with Ventspils Museum as the official project partner.
First day featured presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities among beekeepers, tourism experts, and community members.
Second day, August 21st, participants visited local beekeeper Roma Mačienė for an educational workshop focused on sustainable beekeeping practices. The day also included an excursion to the iconic Hill of Crosses, offering cultural and spiritual insights into one of Lithuania’s most visited landmarks.
