The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia officially changed its name to the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development (MSARD) on July 1, 2024. This significant rebranding is part of a broader reorganization, with the climate and environment sectors being transferred to the Ministry of Climate and Energy. This change allows the newly named ministry to focus more effectively on innovative governance, nature protection, and sustainable regional growth.
What This Means for Project Partners
As the managing body of the Interreg Latvia-Lithuania Programme, this rebranding is particularly noteworthy. The Programme is dedicated to promoting cross-border cooperation and sustainable development. The MSARD will continue to play a crucial role in fostering these initiatives, ensuring that the goals of the Programme are met with renewed vigor and innovation.
Importantly, no amendments to existing Subsidy Contracts are required due to the name change. All existing agreements remain valid and enforceable without any modifications. The Lead Partners will receive official letters on change of ministry’s name.
Addressing Correspondence
To ensure smooth and effective communication, please note that all official correspondence and documents should now be addressed to the MSARD. Other details, including the registration number and address, will remain unchanged. This will help avoid any confusion and ensure that communications are directed to the correct recipient:
