Kick-off meeting with project partners and representatives of local authorities

On June 12, the first working group meeting of the project “Busy Bee: Promoting Tourism through a Beekeeping Route from Kuršėnai to Ventspils” took place at Kuršėnai Manor. The meeting brought together project partners – Šiauliai District Municipality Administration and Ventspils Museum – to discuss project implementation and planning. A Partnership Agreement was also signed between the two institutions.

The agreement was signed by Gipoldas Karklelis, Director of Šiauliai District Municipality Administration, and Solvita Ūdre, Director of Ventspils Museum. The signing ceremony was attended by Šiauliai District Mayor Česlovas Greičius, Vice Mayor Mindaugas Sadauskas, and other municipal representatives and tourism specialists.

Representatives from Ventspils Museum, including EU Project Administrator Ilva Zavicka, Project Manager Dace Kamela, and Open-Air Seaside Museum Manager Artīts Tukišs, presented their institution and project activities.

The project aims to enhance tourism and cultural heritage by promoting beekeeping as a shared tradition. Key activities include establishing a Bee Park in Kuršėnai, expanding the beekeeping exhibition in Ventspils, and creating a cross-border thematic tourist route. Local beekeepers and businesses will showcase their products and traditions through educational events and seminars focused on sustainable beekeeping and heritage preservation.
