Continuing the activities of the project LL-00146 “Together in Art” a masterclass took place on February 3, 2025, at Molėtai Arts School, focusing on vocal technique and choral work. The event featured two distinguished lecturers: Prof. Asta Krikščiūnaitė and conductor Dr. Arvydas Girdzijauskas. Participants included teachers and students from Molėtai Arts School as well as teachers from Ludza Primary Music School.

The Importance of Breathing and Vocal Position in Young Singers’ Development

Led by Prof. Asta Krikščiūnaitė, the masterclass for soloists covered a wide range of topics, including text interpretation, vocal technique, phrasing, articulation, dynamics, cadence, and ensemble formation. Through a combination of group rehearsals and individual consultations, participants had the opportunity to refine their vocal skills, develop musicality, and enhance their performance techniques.

Methodology and Principles of Working with a Choir

Led by lecturer, Doctor of Social Sciences Dr. Arvydas Girdzijauskas, the masterclass on choral work explored principles rooted in critical pedagogy and the cultivation of singers’ creativity. Vocal exercises were based on associative thinking and included activities for body warm-up, focus, breathing, phrasing, range expansion, and ensemble balance.

During the practice sessions with songs such as Lakštingalų pilis, Oi giria giria, and Mūsų žemė, participants applied the discussed techniques in practice, analyzing singers’ expectations and collaboratively shaping the interpretation of the pieces.

This inspiring masterclass provided invaluable insights for young vocalists and choir directors, strengthening artistic expression and pedagogical approaches within the project.
