On August 19 and 20, 2025, representatives of the Kurzeme Planning Region participated in the meeting of partners of the project No. LL-00011 “Development of the water routes network in Latvia and Lithuania by further expanding the cross-border tourism product www.riverways.eu” (acronym – WaterWays) in the Kretinga region, Lithuania. The meeting was also attended by representatives from Saldus county municipality, Kuldīga county municipality, Liepāja Central Administration, Klaipeda region municipality, Kretinga region municipality and Lithuanian Countryside Tourism Association.



- Akmena River – a scenic river tour offering participants a chance to explore one of the region’s natural gems and a popular destination for nature tourism.
- Kretinga Museum – located in the historic Tiškevičiai Manor with a large park and winter garden, it is one of the most significant museums in Western Lithuania.
- “313 Cable Park” – the most modern wakeboarding and watersports park in the Baltics, attracting both professionals and enthusiasts of active leisure.
- Lazdininkai pond – one of the project infrastructure improvement sites in Lithuania, where the local community also plays a major role, actively participating in the project implementation processes.
- “Darbėnai Glowing Swings Park” – a unique light installation park with glowing swings, creating a magical atmosphere and serving as a popular attraction for families and young visitors.



The project WaterWays, or “Development of the Water Route Network in Latvia and Lithuania by Expanding the Cross-Border Tourism Product www.riverways.eu” (LL-00011), is being implemented with the support of the Interreg Latvia – Lithuania Programme!
