Preili and Utena are preparing for project events in summer 2025

The partners of the project launched last year under the Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027, No. LL-00091, titled “Digitalization of the historical path of Preili Castle and Utena Manor to promote the development of tourism services in cultural heritage sites in Latvia and Lithuania” (acronym: “Historical Path – UP”) are actively working to develop a cultural and educational programme for local residents and tourists at both historical sites for the upcoming summer.

As a project partner in Lithuania, the Utena Education Center is planning to host an Iconography Camp, where participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of this art form.

Meanwhile, in Latvia, a Tourism and Art Fair will take place on August 2 at the Preili Manor complex and park as part of the Park Festival. Lithuanian partners will attend the event. Representatives from the Utena region will present their tourism attractions, local crafts, small-scale producers, and service providers.

In autumn, the Preili Municipality government, as the lead project partner, will invite experienced artists — including those from Lithuania — to participate in a camp: an art plein-air.

Project partners from both Latvia and Lithuania are actively engaged in planning and preparing documentation for procurement procedures, including equipment purchases and other activities. At the same time, the content and design of the Preili Castle exhibition are being developed, with experts and specialists proposing the best solutions for the interior layout, visitor engagement, and management.

Through this collaborative effort, the “Historical Path – UP” project team together with the Preili Manor complex and park team are gradually moving toward the long-awaited opening of Preili Castle to visitors.
