Promotional Event: “Colorful Emotions” Project

On August 6, a significant event took place at the preschool educational institution Pienenīte in Krāslava – the celebration of the “Colorful Emotions” project (LL-00009), implemented within the framework of the program “Capacity building and development of necessary competences for working with special needs children in Latvian and Lithuanian kindergartens.”

The project, which lasted for one and a half years, provided preschool teachers in Latvia and Lithuania with the opportunity to strengthen professional competences, acquire new methodologies, and develop skills for working with children of different abilities and needs. The initiative was designed to ensure that teachers are able not only to provide instruction, but also to support inclusion by adapting teaching materials, applying specific therapies, and fostering an environment where every child is respected and supported.

Throughout the project, teachers were introduced to innovative approaches such as Dzimba’s Safety Steps Program and Fairy Tale Therapy, as well as other inclusive practices. Joint trainings, exchange visits, and the development of tailored learning materials contributed to a richer and more inclusive preschool environment. The project also emphasized the importance of community involvement, ensuring that inclusion is not only part of classroom practice but also a value shared more widely.

The final event was filled with gratitude and recognition. Appreciation was expressed to the Krāslava Municipality, the Education Department, teachers, children, parents, local community members, and cooperation partners for their contributions to the project’s successful implementation.

Although the formal activities have been completed, the outcomes – improved competences, new teaching methods, and the spirit of empathy and cooperation – will remain and continue to benefit children and teachers in the years ahead.
