On June 12, all participants of the “Colorful Emotions” project visited the Panevėžys City Municipality, where they were welcomed by the Mayor of Panevėžys, Loreta Masiliūnienė, and Deputy Mayor Deividas Labanavičius. During the meeting, the importance of cooperation between Lithuanian and Latvian educational institutions, the value of sharing best practices, and the benefits of inclusive education development in the regions of both countries were emphasized.
“Such cooperation builds connections not only between educational institutions but also between communities. Inclusion begins with understanding, and understanding starts with communication and sharing. These projects contribute to the creation of a stronger, more empathetic, and open society,” said Mayor Loreta Masiliūnienė of Panevėžys City.
The project activities began in March 2024 and will continue until August 31. The partners visited three different special education institutions in both Lithuania and Latvia. In all visited institutions, psychologists worked to provide support to children, parents, and educators. Each partner selected two different methods used to educate children with special educational needs, and starting from September 2024, they shared their knowledge by organizing method presentations, practical training, and events for their communities.
Educators from the Panevėžys nursery-kindergarten “Rūta” deepened their knowledge in the fields of art and sand therapy. Four teachers from the institution conducted practical sessions in all kindergarten groups, observing the effects of the chosen methods on children’s emotional states, behavior, and communication skills. With project funding, the kindergarten acquired an interactive sandbox to support the continuation of therapeutic education activities.
After the official part at the Panevėžys Municipality, project and social partners gathered at our kindergarten for presentations on art and sand-based activities.
On this day, the kindergarten transformed into an art plein air titled “Meadow”, where the main characters – the Artist and the Butterfly – invited children and adults to immerse themselves in the world of art and music.
The partner responsible for organizing the event was Panevėžys nursery-kindergarten “Rūta”.
Panevėžys nursery-kindergarten “Rūta” presented two videos, filmed during practical lessons, intended as promotional and educational materials to be distributed to kindergartens across the region. Each video is approximately 5 minutes long, in Lithuanian with English subtitles.
