From June 2 to 5, the “Safe Rowing Weekend” took place at the Daugavpils rowing base by Lake Stropi – a special international event that gathered more than 40 children with special needs and young people from community-based foster care homes from Liepāja, Daugavpils, and Panevėžys. The goal was to learn together, engage in sports, and develop new skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Over four days, the young participants took part in a variety of activities aimed at developing both physical abilities and social skills. The main focus was on learning rowing techniques – from getting familiar with the boats and water safety to practical rowing sessions on Lake Stropi.
In addition to rowing, participants also engaged in team-building games, unconventional Olympic games, orienteering tasks, creative workshops, environmental exploration sessions, and robotics. All activities were adapted to ensure that each participant could engage fully and safely.
