Second Bird Watching Day in Liepaja

On April 5, 2025 the Nature House of the Science and Education Innovation Centre (ZIIC) of the Liepāja Education Department, in cooperation with the Latvian Ornithological Society and within the framework of the project “Birdwatching Network along the Baltic Sea Coast”, held an exciting “Bird Day” event.

The event took place at Zirgu Sala in Liepāja, where visitors had the opportunity to explore nature and bird diversity up close. At 11:00, nature enthusiast and bird expert Artūrs Bilerts guided a tour around Zirgu Sala, sharing his knowledge and experience in birdwatching, discussing the most common species, their behaviour, and their role in the ecosystem.

From 11:00 to 14:00, the Nature House hosted free engaging activities for all visitors. At 12:00, a birdhouse-making workshop was held, where participants built their own birdhouses and learned how to properly place them to attract birds. Interactive bird-themed installations and educational sessions were also available for visitors to explore.

The “Bird Day” event provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about Latvia’s birdlife and nature while enjoying exciting activities with family and friends. Participants received informative materials about birds, their lifestyles, and conservation, and had the chance to consult with nature experts to learn more about bird identification and their role in the ecosystem.

The organisers thanked everyone who joined the event to celebrate spring, discover the richness of nature, share birdwatching experiences, and gain new knowledge.
