Know the park in the dark
Common territorial challenge (s) that will be tackled by the project
This project addresses tourism seasonality by introducing night tours after 18:00, providing a unique experience for a new audience and promoting outdoor activities during off-peak seasons. To overcome the knowledge gap in greening and tree maintenance, training programs for park and museum specialists will be implemented. Simultaneously, training sessions for tourism specialists aim to enhance engagement strategies and bring visitors back during and outside peak seasons. The project also aims to rediscover historical connections between regions, fostering tourism between neighboring countries.Project objective
To increase the number of visitors to the cultural sites through the development of two new joint tourism products in Jekabpils and Pasvalys parks, and facilitation of the skills of tourism professionals and specialists maintaining and working with the parks' natural objects.Planned activities
The project plans to enhance park experiences by creating Virtual Reality (VR) tours during dark hours. The collaboration between LP and PP2 aims to extend visits, particularly for families and youngsters, offering a relaxing and educational atmosphere. Additionally, LP and PP2 will revamp Dark Hour tours, allowing independent park visits during different times of the day. LV and LT musicians will create ambient-style music, complementing the experience and promoting relaxation and connection with nature. Infrastructure improvements include LP enhancing paths, lighting, and amenities in Krustpils Castle park. In Joniskelis Manor park, a pedestrian bridge and lighting will connect park sections, enabling visits during dark hours. Communication strategies involve LP and PP2 utilizing local newspapers, social media, and tourism centers to inform the community about project progress. A Youth competition will encourage video creation, showcasing park experiences and attracting families and youngsters. Collectively, these activities aim to create sustainable, enriching cultural and natural heritage experiences, attracting diverse visitors to the parks.Project results
Upon completion, the project envisions several impactful results. Visitors will enjoy enriched experiences through innovative Virtual Reality (VR) tours during dark hours and revamped Dark Hour tours. The incorporation of ambient-style music will create a relaxing atmosphere, fostering a deeper connection with nature.
Infrastructure improvements, including enhanced paths, lighting, and amenities, will provide better accessibility and safety in Krustpils Castle park and Joniskelis Manor park. The installation of lights will extend the visiting hours, contributing to increased park utilization.
The project will contribute to the preservation of the cultural and ecological heritage of the parks. By integrating technology with nature, the initiative aims to strike a balance that enhances the parks’ value while ensuring their sustainable management.
