Youth Workers Learn About Inclusive Learning Principles

From November 4 to 6, within the framework of the project “Hand in Hand” at the guest house “Virkas muiža”, social and youth workers from Saldus and Kretinga participated in a 3-day training on inclusion.

The goal of the training, organized by the association “Kaktuss”, was to create an understanding of social workers and youth workers about organizing inclusive learning processes, to develop skills in planning and implementing inclusive events, processes, ideas – how to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in everyday life.

During the training, there was an opportunity to get acquainted with various experiences and stories, meet with experts. Nellija Repina from the Association of Disabled People and Their Friends “Apeirons” introduced various diagnoses for people with mental and intellectual disabilities and recommendations – how to better cooperate. Agnese Inapša from the Support Center “AIRI for Parents” shared her experience. Kārlis Mednieks from the association “Resiliences centrs” shared real experience stories and recommendations – how to support young people at social risk.

During the training, there was an opportunity to engage in situation simulations and also try out various inclusive activities. Participants discussed their experience in organizing inclusive processes, planned future cooperation opportunities. They also visited the Kuldīga Children and Youth Centre and participated in a music class, had the opportunity to play music freely and at the end, a joint song was created.
