Workshop “Sensory Garden Design“
Sensory Garden Design
As part of the project “Exploit Your Senses to Discover the Green Secrets of Zemgale and Žemaitija!/ Green Secrets”, a cycle of five workshops on creating sensory gardens is planned, focusing on the senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.
The fourth workshop will take place on October 10, 2025, from 10:00 to 15:00 at the Fireplace Hall of the Nākotne Culture House, Skolas Street 3, Nākotne, Glūda Parish, Jelgava Municipality, and at the farm “Rūķīšu tēja”, “Rūķīši”, Krimūnu Parish, Dobele Local Municipality.
Topic “Taste”
- Lecture on perceiving the sensory garden through taste, the diversity of garden flavors – 2 hours (including a coffee break).
- Practical part – field trip to the farm “Rūķīšu tēja”, which grows tea and medicinal herb gardens, and plant introduction – 3 hours including travel time.
The workshop will be led by landscape architect Dr. arch. Natalija Ņitavska.
Participation – free of charge.
The workshop will
take place within the Interreg Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme project No. LL-00126 “Exploit Your Senses to Discover the Green Secrets of Zemgale and Žemaitija!/ Green Secrets”.
The project is co-financed by the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027.
