International competence supervision of library employees
Librarians are not prepared to work with socially excluded groups in order to strengthen their mental health and professional competences. In order to provide these new services, it is necessary to familiarize librarians with the psychological aspects of the elderly, people with disabilities, and socially excluded adults, as well as the peculiarities of communication and education. Initial training are carried out in each institution separately. Once the librarians have acquired basic knowledge, classes are organized together with partner specialists remotely. Participants will reflect on the necessary skills, tools, structures, knowledge and support systems required for such work. The program will continue with an overview of the eight sensory systems and how they can be meaningfully integrated into everyday activities such as reading or interactive play. A discussion on sensory spaces and environments will explore their potential in libraries, including the role of librarians in engaging target groups in sensory-based activities and the knowledge needed to do so effectively. 15 participants are participating in these trainings.
