Various meetings have been carried out between young people and clients from specialised workshops and social house.
On November 29, 2024, International Cake Day, at the Saldus Youth House participants took part in a quiz, answering various cake-related questions such as “Which is the most popular cake in the world?” or “Which is the most purchased cake in Latvia?”. It turns out that the most popular cake in the world is chocolate, while the most popular cake in Latvia is Cielaviņa.
After the trivia, the participants helped each other to make two houses of biscuits, which were eaten or packaged for takeaway. As one of the clients said “It was a good day!”.
On December 9, 2024 the meeting in Brocēni Youth House was Christmas-themed, where everyone had the opportunity to make a decoupage Christmas tree ornament, a greeting card, and at the end there was a raffle with all tickets containing an ornament and card made in the workshop.
On January 29, 2025 a meeting of young people and clients of Specialized Workshops took place at the Brocēni Youth House. This time, there was a “Food Battle”, although there were no clashes. All participants were divided into four teams, and each team prepared something from the products, or came up with a new and interesting pancake and dumpling recipes, but the best thing was just a nice time spent together. While some were preparing or feasting, others also managed to play billiards.
At the end of the day everybody got a thank you gift for their creative participation!
On February 19, 2025 a meeting of young people and residents of the Social House took place. This time we met at the Social House. The young people had arrived with a small treat, and they had the opportunity to get to know this house, talk to clients and also get to know the cute cat of the Social House.
Greeting cards were made together, some of them with nice messages have already been given, others are still waiting for their addressee. Some residents of the Social House also made nice paintings.
At the end of the day everybody was thanked for being together and talking about plans for future meetings.
The clients of the specialized workshops and the Day Care Center “Saulespuķe” will continue to work with both a physiotherapist and a nutritionist every week to develop cooking skills and maintain a lifestyle ready for healthy movements.
