New look towards successful rehabilitation of vulnerable groups

Common territorial challenge (s) that will be tackled by the project

Lithuania and Latvia face the same issues of vulnerable people – there is a great lack of new solutions in rehabilitation for social skills development. This project gives opportunities for innovative solution – to develop Autonomous use of sensory rehabilitation method through created new rehabilitation practices - enriched and engaging possibilities use resources autonomous, based on social cognition and practice social skills on real social situations. Total of 34 specialists will improve their qualification. More than 650 patients will pilot tested of the practical methodological guide at project partners organizations and more than 2000 vulnerable people of partners institution would benefit from the project results yearly.

Project objective

To create the innovative support measures based on social skills enhancement for successful inclusion of vulnerable groups into society.

Planned activities

During the project, the practical methodological guide will be developed to ensure independent living of vulnerable groups. The project partners will jointly test the practical methodical guide. The accessible sensory islands for autonomous use rehabilitation will be created in both Project partner institutions. SSCC "Kurzeme" will create a Sensory garden infrastructure and social skills laboratory. In order to increase the accessibility for patients (especially the disabled and visually impaired) to the sensory islands and other rehabilitation services a modern elevator and Braille handrails will be installed in Palanga “Pušynas” Rehabilitation Branch of PI Republican Hospital of Klaipėda. Training courses for rehabilitation specialists working with vulnerable groups will be organized. The activities will involve the specifics of work with physical, psychiatric and behavior disorder patients, the lecturer will give knowledge about peculiarities in formation support to use autonomous devices and installed sensory islands indoor and outdoor. Project partners will active informing society on developing process of the framework measures ensuring independent living of vulnerable groups in project partners organizations.
